Teodor Moraru (1938-2011) was born in Îndărăptnici (today Nucăreni), a village in today’s Republic of Moldova. In 1944 his family flees to Romania, settling in Fundata commune, in Brașov county.
In 1963 Moraru graduates the Technical School of Architecture in Bucharest (STACO). During this time, however, his interest shifts towards painting, and in 1968 Moraru joins the Poiana Mărului Group, an intellectual circle of artists founded by Horia Bernea. In 1971 Moraru holds his first solo exhibition at “Simeza Gallery” in Bucharest.
He died in Bucharest in 2011.
